Today is the last day for the remaining 737-300 “Classics” from Southwest’s fleet. Replacing them are the current “NextGen” 737-700 and -800 along with the upcoming first flight of the 737-8MAX. Exciting to see new aircraft (I’ll be flying on the MAX8 soon) but the -300’s were the workhorse of Southwest for 32 years and made helped them become a national carrier. I remember so many trips on these aircraft – it’s a bit sad to see them go. Hopefully the MAX8 with better range and economics will allow Southwest to open new routes, once they get them integrated into the fleet.
Southwest made a cool video to show 32 years of service from this workhorse! Enjoy!
